Jamal’s Male Photoshoot in Milan and Lake Como
Session Overview
Locations: Milan and the Como waterfront near Villa Olmo
Format: Personal male portrait photoshoot
Duration: One hour in Milan and one hour in Como
Style: Natural, editorial and lifestyle portraits
Photographer: Dmitrii Shmatov
Jamal contacted me while planning his visit to Northern Italy. Instead of trying to fit several very different locations into a single rushed session, we divided the photoshoot into two separate days. We spent the first hour photographing in Milan, using the city’s architecture, elegant streets and more contemporary urban atmosphere. The following day, we continued with another one-hour session on Lake Como, creating a calmer and more cinematic series surrounded by the lake, mountains and historic Italian scenery. The result was one coherent personal story with two distinct visual moods.
An Urban Male Photoshoot in Milan
For the Milan part of the photoshoot, we focused on clean architecture, natural movement and relaxed street portraits. Jamal wanted photographs that felt elegant and confident without looking overly posed.
During the session, I guided him through simple movements and positions while keeping the overall experience informal. This approach works particularly well for people who are not professional models and may initially feel unsure in front of the camera.
Milan gave us a strong mix of classic Italian details and modern city backgrounds, allowing us to create several different looks within a one-hour walking route.

A Male Photoshoot Along the Como Waterfront and Villa Olmo
For the second part of the photoshoot, we met in the city of Como and followed the waterfront promenade towards Villa Olmo. This compact route gave us a varied combination of open lake views, mountain scenery, elegant architecture and quieter green areas.
The atmosphere was completely different from Milan. Instead of structured city streets and a faster urban rhythm, we worked with softer natural light and the calmer character of the lakeside setting.
We kept the session natural and focused on portraits that felt personal rather than staged. The combination of the Como waterfront and the surroundings of Villa Olmo added a clear sense of place without distracting from Jamal himself.
Although the photoshoot lasted only one hour, careful route planning allowed us to create a varied collection of portraits without spending too much time moving between locations.
Personal Photoshoots on Lake Como
A Lake Como photoshoot can be organised around a short walking route, a longer editorial-style session or a combination of lakeside streets, villas and a private boat experience.
